Permanent Makeup Pre & Post Care

Please print, sign, and bring to appointment.

General Rules for ALL Procedures:

Remember, no two sides of the face are the same. Perfection is our goal, but, note that nothing is PERFECT. We do not use the “P” word when doing Permanent Makeup. Sisters, NOT twins is used universally in this field.

  • Absolutely No Sun, sweating, or tanning prior to the procedure or after the procedure for 10 days. Do not have a tan/sunburn on your face prior to your procedure. The tan will exfoliate, taking color with it as it fades. If you show up to your appointment with a sunburn, you will be required to reschedule and your deposit will be forfeited.
  • PERMANENT MAKEUP & SKIN NEEDLING WILL NOT BE PERFORMED IF YOU ARE PREGNANT OR NURSING!!!!
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores. It is recommended not to sweat (heavily) for the first 10 days after the procedure. Sweat is salt and can prematurely fade the treated area.
  • IF YOU USE BOTOX OR FILLERS, IT SHOULD BE PERFORMED EITHER 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED PROCEDURE OR 2 WEEK AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE.
  • IF YOU USE GROWTH PRODUCT ON BROWS OR EYELINER, YOU MUST DISCONTINUE 2 MONTHS PRIOR FOR BROWS AND 4 MONTHS PRIOR FOR EYELINER.
  •  Apply the aftercare prior to showering to prevent soaps and shampoos from getting on the treated area. Absolutely NOTHING on the treated area.. no makeup, lotions, pencil…. etc. for 10 days. Avoid scrubbing the treated area for 1 month.
  • DO NOT take Asprin, Niacin, Fish Oil, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary,  7 days prior to your procedure. Tylenol is fine.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face during the 1st 10 days after the procedure.
  • You MUST be off Retin-A or Retinols for 60 days prior to your appointment and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely. If you resume the Retin-A or Retinols after the 30 days, please know that the continued use will fade your permanent makeup prematurely.
  • You have to be off Accutane for 1 year.
  • If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, Retinol products, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, you will probably need a color boost every year. The better you take care of the treated area, the longer it will last.
  • If you have oily skin, your results WILL appear softer (eyebrows can look solid) in appearance and may require additional procedures.
  • Dark Skin types please note that your permanent makeup will not appear as bold as lighter skin types. (Indian, African American, Filipino, etc.) Hair strokes and eye liner WILL NOT appear as defined or as dark as lighter skin types.
  • Avoid alcohol or caffeine prior to the procedure. This will minimize any oozing or swelling after the procedure.
  • Getting a procedure while on your menstrual cycle can make you hyper-sensitive at the procedure site.
  • If there are any blemishes, pimples, active cold sores, irritation of the skin of any kind, moles or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure, I WILL NOT be able to do the procedure until the blemish or area of concern is gone or the mole is removed and healed.
  • No swimming until the area is completely healed, salt water/chlorine can cause the pigments to fade or change in color. It is recommended to apply the aftercare to the treated area/s prior to swimming even after healed to prevent the chlorine water/salt water from penetrating the area.
  • Always use sunscreen 30+ on brows to protect and prolong your color. Pure zinc oxide is recommended.
  • Only touch the treated areas with squeaky clean hands. Apply aftercare with a Q-Tip. This is a must…we do not want an infection.
  • DO NOT RUB, SCRATCH OR PICK AT THE TREATED AREA. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring.
  • Eyeliner can and will have some residual pigment that may peel or flake off after a couple of days. This is normal. Eyeliner tends to fade more than brows due to the moisture in the eye area. After the touch up, the color stays better.

Eyebrows

    • Come to your appointment with your eyebrows penciled the way you like them.
    • If you get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please have this done at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled procedure. It is recommended to wait at least a week to have them waxed after the procedure.
    • DISCONTINUE ANY GROWTH PRODUCT 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE.
    • Regular makeup can be worn immediately after your procedure, just NOT on the treated area until healed 2 weeks later. Absolutely NOTHING on the brows….no makeup, lotions, pencils…etc. for 10 days.  Blot the old aftercare with a tissue and reapply a THIN layer. If you can see it….it is too much.
    • The eyebrows WILL appear bolder immediately after the procedure…this is common in all Permament Makeup applications…It will begin to soften up after a few days. Hair strokes appear crisp and bold at first, but will soften up as the tissue heals.
    • It is very common to have areas fade more so than others…this is part of the healing process and will be treated at the recommended touch up appointment. Previously done eyebrows may take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired result. Scar tissue in the brow area of eyebrows done multiple times WILL require additional procedures and fees will apply. One touch up appointment for brow, eyeliner and areola is included in  the price. Any additional appointments will incur a $75 tray set up fee.
  • Please wear sunscreen 30+ daily on brows to avoid premature fading or color change.
  • Permanent makeup is not an exact science and sometimes it is necessary to wear a small amount of brow product after they have been tattooed. Color retention depends on many factors such as your age, quality of your skin, lifestyle, etc.

Eyeliner

    • If you have had any eye surgery, i.e.; Lasix…Cornea..Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty…Lens repair….etc. you will need to wait at least 6 months before I can do permanent makeup on your eyes and a Dr’s note may be requested.
    • IF USING AN EYELASH GROWTH SERUM (Latisse) OR THERE LIKE, YOU MUST DISCONTINUE USE 4 MONTHS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE AND CAN NOT USE UNTIL 4 MONTHS AFTER PROCEDURE.
    • IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM PATTI OF ANY EYE SURGERIES YOU HAVE HAD OR EYE CONDITIONS YOU CURRENTLY HAVE AS THIS WILL DETERMINE IF YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LINER.
    • If you have hyper-sensitive eyes, watery eyes, tear duct plugs or severe allergies, refractive eye surgery etc.. this may not be the procedure for you… our eyes produce saline-salt water and this will cause the area treated to fade or not take at all.
    • Do not wear contact lenses to your appointment, bring your glasses.
    • Please arrive with no eye makeup on.  No mascara.
    • Clean contacts can be worn 72 hrs after the procedure. You cannot use Saline to wet the eyes. Only Sterile Water…check that the wash is NOT SALINE…it will fade the liner out instantly.
    • No mascara for 10 days  after the procedure.
    • It is recommended to buy a new tube of mascara to use after the procedure to reduce the risk or infection.
  • DO NOT USE oily makeup remover, baby oil, mineral oil or heavy creams, especially glycolics around the eyes.

I kindly ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or scented lotions to your appointment.

I _______________________ confirm that I have read and followed the pre-procedure and will follow the aftercare as advised.
